At Tarka Trail Camping, you’ll find everything you need for a comfortable and relaxing stay in North Devon, whether you’re camping in a tent or arriving with a campervan, motorhome or touring caravan.
Our modern, heated shower and toilet block is spacious and kept spotlessly clean – something our campers regularly tell us they really appreciate. There are hot showers and toilets, accessible facilities and a family bathroom, along with a baby changing tables, free hairdryers, liquid hand soap and eco hand dryers.
Our generous grass and hardstanding pitches give you plenty of room for your tent, caravan, campervan or motorhome, with EHU pitches available if required. Picnic tables and benches are dotted around the campsite, which you are welcome to move onto your pitch if required.
You’ll also find free Wi-Fi, a free device charging station, an indoor dishwashing room with hot water and fresh drinking water points around the campsite. For caravans and motorhomes, we have chemical toilet and grey water disposal facilities, including a drive-over motorhome waste point.
We have a dedicated waste and recycling area and encourage everyone staying with us to recycle wherever possible and help us look after our beautiful North Devon surroundings.
If you’re travelling by bike or on foot, there are bike racks, a covered shelter with seating and direct access to the Tarka Trail through our private campsite gate – making it easy to arrive, pitch up and head off exploring.
Reception is also on hand during your stay, where you can pick up a few everyday essentials, along with locally made ice cream and a selection of ice lollies – very welcome after a sunny day on the trail!

One of the best things about staying with us is having the Tarka Trail right on your doorstep. Our private campsite gate gives all campers direct access to the traffic-free Tarka Trail, so you can leave your car behind and head out on foot or by bike. Turn one way for Instow and Bideford, or the other for Fremington Quay and Barnstaple – with miles of North Devon waiting beyond.
Free Wi-Fi is available for campers across the campsite, helping you stay connected, check the weather, plan your next North Devon adventure or simply keep in touch while you’re away. Ask Reception for the password when you check in.
Pop into Reception (open from 2 - 6pm) if you need us during your stay. We stock a small selection of camping and everyday essentials, along with locally made ice cream and a choice of ice lollies - perfect for a treat on a sunny day.
We have a dedicated camping area for cyclists and walkers, with sheltered pitches, covered shelter with seating, bike racks and a free device charging station, along with hot showers and all the usual campsite facilities.
Thoroughly cleaned twice daily, our newly built amenity block has separate male and female toilets, modern hot showers and underfloor heating. Our family bathroom comes equipped with a toilet, sink and shower with a baby changing table available in the Ladies. For our disabled guests we have a disabled wet room with accessible shower and shower seat, toilet and sink.
We have 18 Electric Hook Up Pitches available with plenty of room for your car and Caravan/Campervan/Motorhome and Awning, with space to relax beside. Electric is charged at a flat rate per night basis and should be selected at time of booking to ensure you are assigned the correct pitch type.
For our disabled guests we have a disabled wet room with accessible shower and shower seat, toilet and sink, accessed via an accessibility ramp. The Campsite is generally level with good access roads. Please indicate when booking if you require use of the disabled facilities.
To the side of the amenity block is a spacious indoor dishwashing room with two double drainer sinks and free hot water.
Follow the path around beyond the Dishwashing Room for the Chemical Toilet Disposal area which includes a large grey water waste sink. Please use the water hose provided to rinse and clean as necessary. A drive-over Motorhome sluice drain is also available.
Dogs are not permitted inside the toilet and shower blocks or in the Dishwashing Room. Doggy Clips are provided outside these facilities for securing your dogs. Please keep dogs on a lead at all times whilst on the Campsite, and please ensure they are tethered at your pitch when not inside your caravan/motorhome/tent.
Located at the front of the amenity block between the ladies and gents shower/toilets, is a free charging point for mobile phones, tablets, power banks etc. Campers leave their belongings here at their own risk and on a first come, first served basis.
The recycling and rubbish point is situated beyond Reception and clearly marked. We do ask that everyone recycles their rubbish using the recycling bins and leaves their pitch clean and tidy on departure.
